Now, animal cruelty does not only involve the abuse of animals in many different ways, there is also a second factor affected by animal cruelty, and that factor being us. The harming of people can also be a result of this terrible problem. It's a fact that a large percentage of criminals are animal abusers as well and that some of these criminals start off at a young age. Young children who start off abusing animals grow up to do larger crimes. In fact, about 88% of people who are involved in animal cruelty also turn to domestic violence and 63% of children sent to domestic violence shelters reported pet abuse as well, as said on humanesociety.org. Not only attacking their pets but their family too. Speaking of family, many families serve meat at home as lunch or dinner, but do people really know where that meat is coming from or how it was treated? There are thousands farms out there and a lot of those farms keep chickens in tiny wire cages, cooped up in confined spaces leaving them to walk over mud and their own feces, and those chickens might just be found at a local super market. This obviously has an effect on the health quality of the food that people like us pay for and just guess where some of that money goes, right back to the farms that gave us this meat. We practically paying the farms for even more of that unhealthy meat and encouraging them to continue.
Cows can also have this unhealthy outcome when they are not treated well. If cows don't get a balanced diet, they obtain a higher amount of fatty acid or become very sick but some large farms don't notice these sick animals and are slaughtered, again, to give us rancid meat that could also make us sick. However almost 10%, or 900 million animals, in the U.S die before even making to to the slaughter house because of these living conditions. Although animal cruelty affects us, let's not forget that we are the ones that are causing this problem. Humans are the ones that own these terrible farms that cause the suffering to the animals that live there. Humans are the ones who inflict the pain on these animal whether it's psychological or not. For a while there had be a dog next door to my friend, and no matter how much I wanted to deny it, that dog was being abused. His ribs where more than just a little visible and his only source of water was the backyard pool. We tried to help by feeding it dog treats over the fence or even pour hose water near him to see if that would make the slightest of differences. I was 8 years old at the time and regret doing nothing to stop the abuse and end his suffering because that dog is gone now and to make it worse it was replaced by another right after. The thing with animal abuse is that if it isn't taken care of the first time it will keep happening, like my neighbor or the farms. Animal abuse is a crime just like any other and people who do wrong should be corrected because our lives will continuously be involved in the matter if it doesn't stop.
